Prince's future and our trip to Milwuakee
Over at ESPN, Buster Olney has an interesting little article about Prince and his future in Milwaukee. I don't have ESPN Insider so if anybody does and wants to forward me the article, feel free. I could only read the first couple paragraphs but it basically says he should really consider any decent offer we give him due to the lack of high paying teams willing to go after him in 2012. Most teams will already have guys locked up such as the Yankees, Mets, and Sox. I agree with his comments on this, Prince is next to god status for a lot of Crew fans and he could help get the fans in the seats, which we will need to get revenue in to aquire a playoff caliber team. I would love to see Brauny and Prince stay Brewers forever. We need another guy like Yount to really keep the fans interested.
On a related note, we ordered our tickets for the Seattle Mariners series in June. The fans came out like crazy tying up the phone lines and the website for over an hour before we could get through and order. That is some crazy shit. Two years ago, we got on and ordered in the first twenty minutes. I think they said they sold almost a 100,000 tickets in the first six hours.Bryan (my cousin/one time contributer to the site) says he wishes we could start losing 100+ games a year so we could get seats easier. That is Bryan for you though. Never the less, hopefully this means Mark A. can spend a little money at the deadline if we need it, which he says he will do. Anyways, we will be down there again, this time there are six of us and another twelve joining us on Saturday. Should be another drunken stuper of a weekend.

Another reason that Prince would have to possibly extend is contract is the fact that Pujols and Howard would both be free agents at the same time as Prince. I think they'll make a strong run at him but the reality is Scott Boras doesn't give hometown discounts or buy out his clients years of free agency. He never has he never will. People need to appreciate Prince while he is here and go to every game they can because honestly his days in Milwaukee are dwindling. The Brewers are at least smart enough to test the waters. If they can see that he and Boars are playing "hardball" the organization will trade him before the 2011 trade deadline. This nice thing is a player of his caliber should be able to yield some solid players if not all stars in return. Like Rod Tidwell said in Jerry Maguire "Show me the money". We'll see how much Prince and his family truly like Milwaukee or of money does the talking.
